Seismic Analysis
A site visit is conducted at the subject property to determine the construction type of the building(s) and note any conditions that could affect the building during a seismic event.
Data are reviewed related to local and regional seismicity, soil types and local faults to estimate maximum expected ground movement and forces during a seismic event with an anticipated return interval.
The property is evaluated based on historical performance of similar buildings given a seismic event of an estimated magnitude.
The estimated damage to the building is expressed as a percentage of the value of the building intending to reflect the amount of repairs required. (a result of 20 roughly means it is anticipated it will require a cost equivalent to 20 per cent of the value of the building to repair the building after a seismic event of the magnitude used for the evaluation)
All of which is presented in a report known as a Earthquake Loss Study.
