Gordon Meltzer started working in the roofing industry in 1974, first as a manufacturer's rep and later writing comprehensive project estimates for commercial clients.  His personal experience in diverse aspects of the roofing industry and his commitment to clients’ satisfaction and attention to detail led to his founding of the company, RSM, in 1974.

For Gordon, a Business Administration graduate and U.S. Navy Veteran, each project is an opportunity to reach for the highest level of service. It's an opportunity to focus on clients' needs within each project's specifications. This philosophy has brought the company years of success. Early in 2009, the company's name changed to RSM Consulting Engineers, Ltd. to reflect the broadening list of services it now offers in commercial real estate asset management and due diligence.

Gordon's charismatic leadership is a key factor in RSM's growth and its high ranking among the finest companies in the U.S. roof consulting industry.

Robert Compfort, a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, joined RSM in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining RSM, Robert has worked in financial management for over twenty five years specializing in helping fast growing companies with a need for strong financial controls while managing growth. Prior experience includes senior level positions at wide ranging enterprises including a nationwide insurance fraud investigation company and a regional brewery.

Bill Workman has worked in the roofing industry for over 20 years throughout the country. Bill’s experience as a roofing contractor included hands-on field installation of various types of roof assemblies including built-up gravel, modified bitumen membranes, EPDM rubber roof assemblies, TPO & PVC single-ply membranes on the commercial side and shingle, wood shake and both concrete and clay roof tiles on the residential side.

From the field he moved to management status including service department manager, commercial estimator and project manager for the southeast region, which included work on various types of properties including residential, commercial, hospitals, and government installations. Projects ranging from repairs and maintenance to complete tear off and replacement with project values from $1,000 to $2,650,000.  

Since joining the staff of RS&M in July of 1997, Bill’s consulting related job duties including roof investigation assessments and determining code and manufacturer compliance of installed and new roof projects. Specification development for repairs, maintenance, and replacement of various types of projects including multi-family dwellings, commercial retail, commercial warehouse/distribution, commercial office structures, assisted living facilities, and high-rise office buildings. Project management and oversight of the projects specified along with continuing annual inspections.

Douglas Baucom

Mr. Baucom is licensed as a Civil Engineer in the State of California and is a member of both the National and California Societies of Professional Engineers. He has extensive experience in real estate due diligence, including property condition assessments, ADA compliance reviews, construction cost analyses, construction progress monitoring and structural evaluations.

These services have been provided for numerous property types, including single and multifamily residential, retail, office, industrial, lodging, medical and institutional. The projects evaluated by Mr. Baucom vary in size and include small single commercial buildings, small subdivisions, industrial buildings greater than 1,000,000 square feet, high rise office and condominium buildings, geographically diverse portfolios and large master planned communities.

Mr. Baucom performed a construction cost analysis of a $750 million expansion of an island resort property in The Bahamas for the construction lender. The project included new hotel towers, convention space, a water park and dolphin encounter facilities.

He performed property condition assessments of storm damaged and destroyed properties along the gulf coast after Hurricane Katrina.

In his current position, Mr. Baucom is responsible for developing and overseeing all technical services. This includes developing standards, creating report formats, performing research and final review of all technical reports. He is also responsible for selection and management of external engineers and specialty consultants.

He previously held the positions of Senior Engineer at a New York Based due diligence firm and Vice President of an Orange County, California due diligence firm. In both positions, Mr. Baucom was responsible for production and quality control of all property condition assessments, construction cost analyses and construction progress monitoring reports. Other prior experience includes design engineering and construction project management for a residential developer, an engineering consulting firm and the Facilities Department of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company (now Boeing). The duties involved in these positions included selection and management of outside consulting firms, structural analysis, structural design and drafting.

Jayne Peters

Jayne Peters started her roofing career in 1984 and has steadily worked her way up in the roofing business, gaining knowledge as a foreman, quality control inspector, and roofing analyst.

Jayne brings her expertise of the roofing world to the RSM Consulting Engineers team as our Senior Technical Representative. She is involved in training and scheduling our field representatives, completing roof surveys, annual inspections for clients, writing specifications for work to be completed, and handling due diligence projects along with project management.

An intricate part of the RSM team, Jayne has continued her education and in the last year received the necessary qualifications and course work to become a Registered Roof Observer, recognized nationally by the roof consulting industry.

Mandy McCord

Mandy McCord started her career in customer service and over the past 10 years has been exposed to the construction industry both in the field and the office.  Her proficiency in staying organized and her Bachelor degree in English from the University of South Florida makes Mandy a vital part of the RSM team.  

Coordinating office services such as, entering client information into RoofLogic, drawing in RoofCAD, processing field progress reports, compiling Closeout book material, handling client leak calls, preparing annual inspection and comprehensive roof survey reports, Mandy is efficient in keeping everything in order and getting information to clients in a timely manner.

Along with regular every day job functions, Mandy also assists in  analyzes operating practices such as record keeping systems, forms control, office layout, and personnel requirements to help create new systems or revising established office procedures and maintains website and marketing functions.

Tim Morris Sr.

Tim Morris has been in the roofing industry for over twenty years with a large portion of this time as an owner of a roofing company.  With a B.S. degree from Valdosta State University, Tim’s overall knowledge of the roofing industry spans multiple roof systems and specializes in metal roof assemblies.

Since joining RSM Consulting Engineers team two years ago, Tim has established himself as an integral part our success.  Tim responsibilities include all aspects of the consulting industry and focuses on comprehensive roof surveys, cause and effect (trouble shooting), in progress monitoring of active projects, and construction management. 

Tim continues his education by attending RCI courses, completing the RRO examination, and looks forward to attending the annual conventions.
